Speakers, Part II.
So the AR is still in my car... maybe I should leave it there - that sentence rhymes well. Before I left for Washington, I had a chance to test the Jensens, but they weren't great. Compared to the Advent Loudspeakers that I currently had (and am still using) they were very flat and mid-ey. Plus the enclosures were a little beat-up. Oh well, definitely worth $10 for the pair. If I keep them, I'll pull the 10" speakers and the horns out, but I may decide to sell them if I encounter someone who's in need of a decent pair of speakers...
SO - the current setup is 2 pair of Advent Loudspeakers, stacked on top of each other, regardless of the fact that the new ones (positioned on the bottom) aren't connected because they need new surrounds. The working ones sound better raised off of the ground, it raises the dB level of the bass. After I've had time to re-surround the bottom ones, the top ones will be flipped upside-down, with the woofers on top to create better sound imaging. Then I just need a new cd player and turntable...
Currently, the component setup is: Bang & Olufsen Beogram 1700 Turntable with MMC 20EN cartdridge, and an Onkyo DX-1800 CD player that kinda sucks and doesn't like cd-rs all that much. The receiver is a harman/kardon hk 570i. GOD it's fun to pretend to be an audiophile!
